The Old Geysirs Hockey Club began in 2002 with a trip to Iceland. The tour guide took us to see the famous old geysirs. Hence, the name Old Geysirs. We are a bunch of old-timers (age 50 and up with no retirement age and various levels of skill, always on the decline) who enjoy playing recreational, no-check ice hockey. We enjoy traveling, and don't particularly care if we win, as long as there is a decent place to eat nearby. Spouses and mates are encouraged to accompany the team.
In 2004, we went to Prague in the Czech Republic, for some friendship games. In 2007, we earned a bronze medal in the 55+ Silver Division in the IIHF World Oldtimers' championships in Goteborg, Sweden. 2008 found us in Halifax Nova Scotia at the World Oldtimer Championships. Who knows where we will go next? We are always looking for places to go and teams to play.
